Tis the season... wedding season, that is. And though summer is the obvious choice for an outdoor wedding in most parts of the country, this dreamy day can quickly turn to nightmare without careful preparation for the heat. As experts in outdoor venues and estate properties, we are well versed in covering all these bases for our clients. Here are a 5 tips that will help you to beat the heat at your summer wedding.
1) DRESS FOR SUCCESS- You might envision your groom in black tie, but chances are that vision doesn't include sweat dripping down his brow. Let your location and the season inspire what you wear on your big day. Choosing lightweight fabrics, summer colors and relaxed breezy styles are a perfect fit for comfort and style at a summer wedding. Be sure to advise your guests about wardrobe that would make them more comfortable as well.
3) REFRESH - Greet guests not only with the program but with a water and lemonade station. Place bottles of water in ice filled buckets at the end of each aisle or tray pass chilled towels. Any of these thoughtful gestures will keep your guests cool and ready for fun.
4) FLOWER POWER - Guests aren't the only ones who will be thirsty at your wedding. Many flowers simply won't hold up to the sweltering sun. When selecting flowers, make sure you've chosen hearty florals that will hold up in the summer heat. Also, make sure your florist is armed with plenty of staff so they can wait as long as possible to set up. This will keep your flowers fresh and beautiful. Ask your floral designer for their recommendations of what flowers hold up best in the heat in your part of the world.
